The Chimera’s Bounty: A New 5e Hunt and a Free Adventure
Eight hundred gold pieces. A three-headed quarry. A countryside that cannot afford another failed hunt.
The Chimera’s Bounty is our new Penny Blood Adventures project on Kickstarter: a fifth-edition monster hunt, a companion novel, and five more adventures set in Bellward. It begins with the Cinderwake, a chimera loose in the Bellward Reach, and a bounty that pays for either a verified kill or secure live capture. How your hunters claim it is up to them.
Three books, one troubled region
The Chimera’s Bounty is written for four or five characters of levels 3–5 using the 2014 fifth-edition rules. Investigate the creature’s movements, prepare the ground, and decide how much risk you will take to bring it in alive. If the Cinderwake escapes under the adventure’s qualifying conditions, it can return with adaptations. An escape is never required: a successful hunt stays successful.
Cinderwake is the companion novel, offering another way into Bellward and its people. Players who want to discover the adventure’s secrets at the table should save the full novel for afterward.
Bounties of Bellward is planned as a collection of five standalone adventures set in the same region. For a free introduction to Bellward, Do Not Ring the Harvest Bell is available below as a complete adventure.
Choose how you bring Bellward home
Campaign rewards range from the main-adventure PDF to an Enhanced Digital Collection, paperback and hardcover options, and collections of the Bellward books. The Enhanced Digital Collection is planned to include all three books, GM and player maps, printable player documents, and a GM reference pack. Every physical reward includes that digital collection; check each tier for its exact printed books and contents.
The campaign also plans five rules-adaptation guides for Pathfinder 2e, Old-School Essentials, Daggerheart, Tales of the Valiant, and Savage Worlds. Included with the Enhanced Digital Collection and every physical reward, these guides will help you run the main hunt and five Bellward one-shots using your chosen system’s core rules. They are part of the base offer, independent of stretch goals.
Play a free adventure: Do Not Ring the Harvest Bell
Every time the harvest bell rings, the ground opens. Your hunters must discover what draws a burrowing monster before the valley loses its harvest.
This complete adventure is designed for three to six characters of levels 3–5 and a single session of about 3–4 hours. The 40-page PDF includes creature statistics, GM and player maps, handouts, and supporting rules from our books. You’ll also find actual interior pages from The Chimera’s Bounty and the opening chapter “The Road In” from Cinderwake.
Bring your own characters, dice, and the 2014 fifth-edition rules. No other Penny Blood Adventures book or Kickstarter pledge is required.
